How do I organise my articles into folders?

Folders are how your visitors navigate your Knowledge Base. A small amount of thought here saves your readers a lot of scrolling.

Create a folder

Go to Folders and click New Folder. You can set:

  • Name — what visitors see.

  • Description — an optional line shown under the folder name on your Knowledge Base.

  • Parent folder — leave as None (root) to make it a top-level folder, or choose an existing folder to nest it inside.

  • Icon — pick one to help visitors scan the page.

Nest folders to group related topics

Choosing a parent folder puts one folder inside another, so you can have a broad heading with specific topics underneath it. Two levels is usually enough. Any deeper and readers stop finding things.

Reorder folders

Drag the handle on the left of any folder to move it. The order you set here is the order visitors see.

Put the folders new customers need first. Getting Started at the top, edge cases at the bottom.

Put an article in a folder

Open any article and choose a folder from the Folder dropdown in the panel on the right, then save. You can move articles between folders at any time without affecting their address.
