Your Knowledge Base lives on the same web address as your changelog, so there is no new domain to buy and nothing to install. There are two settings to get right before it appears.
In this article, we will go through the two things that need to be in place, and how to check it worked.
Your Knowledge Base sits at your changelog address with /knowledge-base on the end. If your changelog is at announcements.yourcompany.com, your Knowledge Base is at announcements.yourcompany.com/knowledge-base. You do not need to set that address up, but it stays hidden until both steps below are done.
1) Switch your page to the Modern layout
The Knowledge Base only appears on the Modern page layout. If your changelog is still on Classic, nothing you publish will show up.
Go to your Knowledge Base - Analytics page and click Theme Designer. At the top of the panel, under Page layout, choose Modern.
Use the preview on the right before you save. Modern changes how your whole changelog page looks, not just the Knowledge Base, so it is worth a look if your changelog is already live for your customers.
2) Publish your first article
Your Knowledge Base stays hidden until there is something in it. Drafts do not count.
Go to Articles, click New Article, give it a folder, and click Publish.
Once your first article is live, the Knowledge Base tab appears on your page and the address starts working.
3) How to check it worked
On your Knowledge Base page, click View Knowledge Base. It opens your live help centre in a new tab.
If that button is greyed out, hover over it. It will tell you which step is still outstanding.
